(FTACC) (RQF)

COURSE OVERVIEW

The QA Level 3 Award in First Aid Trauma and Casualty Care (FTACC) (RQF) is specifically designed for first aiders who work in environments where trauma based incidents are more common, such as construction and manufacturing.

 

Developed and supported by the ATACC Group, this qualification provides the knowledge required for early recognition of life-threatening situations and is part of a progressive suite of qualifications in trauma and casualty care.

During this 3 day course, Learners will develop the skills and knowledge needed to deal with a range of common medical and trauma emergencies. Adopting the BURPS approach to patient assessment (Bleeding; Unconsciousness; Respiratory; Pain and numbness; Skin and temperature) and other trauma based techniques, it is ideal for those working in higher risk environments.

CONTENT OVERVIEW
  • The role and responsibilities of the first aider

  • Assess situations in order to act safely and effectively

  • Basic Life Support & Automated External Defibrillation

  • Unconscious casualty

  • Management of a seizure

  • Choking

  • Shock

  • External Bleeding

  • Minor injuries small cuts / grazes / small splinters / nose bleeds

  • Minor burns and scalds

  • Completing accident report form

  • Managing catastrophic bleeding, including:

  • Direct Pressure

  • Tourniquets

  • Haemostatic Dressings

  • Crush injuries

  • Extreme hot and cold temperatures

  • Lyme disease

  • Snake Bites
