AWARD IN EMERGENCY FIRST AID IN SCHOOLS

COURSE OVERVIEW

This short course is designed for those individuals who have been nominated to fulfil the role of an Emergency First Aider in schools.

 

To assist schools to comply with Department for Education and Employment (DfEE) guidelines in first-aid provision, required at all times while people are on school premises, or off the premises whilst on school visits.

CONTENT OVERVIEW
  • Understand the role of the first aider

  • Assess situations in order to act safely and effectively

  • Basic Life Support and Automated External Defibrillation (Adult & Child)

  • Choking casualty

  • Management of the unconscious casualty

  • Administer first aid to a casualty

  • Provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries small cuts / grazes / splinters / burns

  • Wounds and Bleeding

  • Shock

  • Anaphylaxis

Duration:  4 Hours

Assessment: Practical Competence Based
