LEVEL 3 AWARD IN FIRST AID AT WORK (RQF)

COURSE OVERVIEW

The qualification is designed for people who have a specific responsibility at work, or in voluntary and community activities, to provide First Aid when dealing with an emergency situation.

 

The aim of the qualification is to enable learners to attain the knowledge and competencies needed to deal with a range of emergency first aid situations.

 

Learners should be able to demonstrate the practical administration of safe, prompt, effective first aid in emergency situations with an understanding of the role of the first aider.

CONTENT OVERVIEW
  • The role and responsibilities of the first aider

  • Assess situations in order to act safely and effectively

  • Basic Life Support & Automated External Defibrillation

  • Unconscious casualty

  • Management of a seizure

  • Choking

  • Shock

  • External Bleeding

  • Minor injuries small cuts / grazes / small splinters / nose bleeds minor burns and scald

  • Completing accident report form

  • Administer first aid to a casualty with Chest Injuries

  • Asthma and Hyperventilation

  • Wounds and Bleeding

  • Eye Injuries

  • Anaphylaxis

  • Angina and Heart attack

  • Stroke

  • Burns and Scalds

  • Poisoning Head and Spinal Injuries

  • Injuries to Bones / Muscles / Joints

  • Secondary Survey

  • Other Major Illnesses: Epilepsy and Diabetes
